EITM Fan No More...

After much deliberation, I have come to a conclusion: I don't care anymore!

Yes, there was a time when I lived and breathed everything EITM. It was what I woke up to every morning and what I listened to at night. I was an uber-fan, so much so, I started this "fan blog" three years ago.

Now, I'm a disappointed and disgruntled listener who feels shafted by a show that is now a shell of its former self. Kyle is gone. Flounder is gone. And the show has morphed into pointless Bachelorette and Glee discussions that Elliot's true demographic could give a fuck about. The crazy bits and stunts are gone. Everyone is settled down and having kids or engaged. The show isn't young and fresh like it used to be. And no offense to Kayleigh, but she's just not a part of the show...no matter how much Elliot tries to include her, it just doesn't work...

The way that Flounder left was truly the end for me. Say what you want about Schlossberg, he made that show! You can't deny he was a big part of the show and to ignore his absence the way they did, annoyed listeners and actually turned a lot of people off, including me.

The show just isn't the same to me. Elliot and the Class are boring and tired. It's time for a new gig, folks. I'll start things off by changing the name of this blog (whose title is no longer true) in support of Flounder.

Thanks for the good times...

Joan the Moan Asks Elliot About Flounder!

It only took eleven days for someone to call the Elliot in the Morning show and ask the question we've all been asking, "What happened to Flounder?"...

We know he was fired, but we don't know why. Flounder isn't talking and neither is anyone from the show. Up until Tuesday morning, no one had even acknowledged that he was gone. That is, until Joan the Moan called in...

She asked Elliot what ever happened to Flounder and his response was "He is gone" and that "He was let go."

Obviously, we still don't know why he was let go, but at least Elliot finally addressed the situation and at least SOMEONE had the balls to ask! Thanks, Joan the Moan!

Former DC101 Employee, Bryan "Flounder" Schlossberg Takes to the Air with "Hire Me" Campaign

Last Friday, EITM Fans broke the news of Bryan Schlossberg’s (better known as Flounder) exit from DC101 after twelve years with the Elliot in the Morning show.

Flounder stated via Facebook, "Friday was my last day working at DC101. Over the last 12 years, I have met some amazing people and have done amazing things. Thanks to my friends and family for their amazing support."

With his sights on the future, Flounder has already begun searching for his next opportunity. This morning he teamed up with former DC101 employee, Kyle Benham to launch an innovative "Hire Flounder" campaign.

Benham launched Bootcamp Lights earlier this year, reaching 80,000 U2 fans at M&T Bank Stadium with a custom built R22 Helicopter, outfitted with a 36-foot digital billboard.

Authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fly digital advertising over metropolitan areas, the Bootcamp Lights Helicopter, operated by co-founder, Robert Schapiro displayed "Hire Flounder – DJFlounder.com" this morning above rush hour traffic on I-270 and I-370 just outside of Washington, D.C.

Kyle Benham stated, "It isn't easy finding work in this economy. Flounder is a creative genius with the discipline needed to succeed; I hope this campaign will help him discover a fulfilling career."

One commuter tweeted, "@DJFlounder, even though you slowed down traffic this morning on 270, I thought that was some great advertising." In response, Flounder commented, "Get used to it because I am not going away."

Bootcamp Lights has a full service video production team; using the latest technology to capture campaigns in 1080p. Creative services director, Dan Yar says, “Our digital videos provide original content which can be shared across multiple platforms."

EITM Edits Flounder Out of Intro...

The EITM intro (which includes soundbites that pertain to the show) was changed this week to better suit the new Flounder-less show. I thought it would be fun to compare the tiny part that changed...

Here's how a portion of the old clip sounded:

And here's the newly edited version:

"What, you got your period on?...I need to get off the phone...Go Flounder!...Winnie, Arnold, Mr. Meowerson" were replaced with a clip of former football player, Lawrence Taylor's attorney, proclaiming, "Lawrence Taylor did not have consensual sex with anybody last night."

In The Headlines...

The news of Flounder's exit from DC101 and Elliot in the Morning are slowly but surely trickling through the radio industry websites and blogs even though there's yet to be an official response from Clear Channel DC.

Don't forget you heard it here first. Here's some others...

DCRTV: Flounder Out At DC101

Longtime "Elliot In The Morning" show sidekick Bryan "Flounder" Schlossberg is out at Clear Channel alt rocker DC101, WWDC. The sketchy details are at the EITM Fans blog...

Radio-Info.com: "Flounder" is fried on Washington's Elliot in the Morning Show
The news was leaked out on the unofficial Elliot in the Morning blog site, saying "Flounder was fired. No one at DC 101 is talking about it." It appears that Bryan "Flounder" Schlossberg was cut loose by the Clear Channel-owned modern rock "DC 101" WWDC-FM in Washington, DC. He had been with the rock station and a part of the Elliot in the Morning Show for nearly 12 years.

Flounder Fans React!

Flounder may be gone from the DC airwaves for now, but in the meantime the internets (especially Facebook and Twitter) are buzzing about his firing. Here are some of my favorite comments from all over the web...

- Yea no mention of Flounder? Sweepin it under the rug eh?

- After 12 years you can't even wish him well? I'm disappointed in everyone at DC101.

- I think Flounders' DSB finally caught up to him.

- I've checked Starbucks and Outback, and still no flounder...

- Maybe when they're done looking for DB Cooper they can start looking for Flounder!

- This country is FLOUNDERING on the brink of disaster...hey...that reminds me...

- So we're sure that @djflounder and @BrettHaber haven't begun what might be a really elaborate (and potentially awesome) job switch?

- No @DJFlounder, no EITM.

- To the anonymous that said "who cares": Screw you. Flounder was the best thing that ever happened to that station. He didn't deserve to get treated the way he did and it's bullshit that he's gone. His production work was the best of its kind and he was easily the most entertaining part of EITM when he was on it. DC101 is definitely about to lose a lot of listeners and even more, the quality of their production is going to suffer extremely. Flounder will be off to bigger and better things while EITM's rating continue to drop.

- For someone that has "No Talent" he sure did make a name for himself and a long career (12 years) especially moving over into creative services.

- I'm a former employee and I've seen dozens of "Radio" people come and go, it's a nature of the business and for someone to last 12 years really does show a true talent, and strong work ethic unlike some D-Bags that I've come across. Also, there are some people who are still employed that really have no skills outside of turning MIC1 & MIC2 on and off and once the atrocity of sound (EITM) is off, they will all be fucked.

Flounder Speaks!

From Flounder's Facebook page:

Friday was my last day working at DC101. Over the last 12 years, I have met some amazing people and have done amazing things. Thanks to my friends and family for their amazing support. Please keep in touch with me through facebook, twitter and email. (djflounder1@gmail.com) #Freeagent

What a classy guy! Too bad we can't say the same for a few others over on Rockville Pike. Good luck, Flound!

Update:
- Flounder was fired on Friday.
- I'm told it's been quiet at DC101 -- too quiet.
- Flounder's Mash Ups will no longer be heard on DC101. It did not play on Saturday night.
- The last set of promos Flounder produced for DC101 are located here.
- Lot's of EITM listeners are upset over his firing and are making their voices heard on Facebook and Twitter.
- Fans are tweeting the hashtag #FreeAgent in honor of Flounder.
- Elliot did not talk about Flounder on Monday's show.
