Casey Krukowski Leaving 102.1 The X!

After ten years at "Richmond's Rock Station," midday jock and Program Director, Casey Krukowski (a.k.a. "Little Boy Legs") will be leaving his post on June 10th.

He's been named Program Director at Clear Channel Active Rock station WEBN in Cincinnati, Ohio and starts the new gig on June 15th.

I sent Casey a few fun questions and hope he answers them soon. Either way, he's always been a good sport and he even hooked me up with a free bus ride to DC for Kegs & Eggs a couple years back. And for that, I'll be forever grateful...

So now that Casey's leaving, do you think YOU have what it takes to be the next Program Director at WRXL in Richmond?

Send your cover letter, resume, and aircheck to OM Dave Symonds at DaveSymonds@clearchannel.com.

Update:
Here's Elliot's convo with Casey about his run in with 30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto. (02/01/11)

Flounder Stays Mum and "Shock" Weighs In! (Updated)

EITM fan, Katie, ran into Flounder at the DC101 Chili Cook Off over the weekend...

After snapping this pic with the regional celebrity, she asked him why he hasn't been heard on Elliot in the Morning in months. Katie says, "He laughed when I asked and said don't worry about it."

Meanwhile, former DC101 Production Director, Rick "Shock" Shockey weighs in on Flounder's morning show absence: "I don't know what's up with Flounder's absence - Wellington was the Program Director when I left and they have someone new that I don't know."

The current Program Director is James "Doubledown" Howard, who joined the station in December 2010.

Shock also shed some light on his somewhat tumultuous work-relationship with Flounder: "It's not true that Flounder and I never got along. I even recommended him highly to the GM and others when he went for the Imaging position after Spank left," says Shock. "He and I got along great until the last eight months or so. Then, a little dispute got blown up on the EITM show and it got ugly from there."

You'll recall back in November 2008, Flounder and former DC101er, Whitney, threw Shock's coffee pot off a 5th floor balcony. But Shock doesn't hold any grudges...

"All in all, I continue to think he's a very talented producer who is quite capable of being very successful, if he wants to be. I always encouraged him to expand, to do more."

It appears Flounder is taking Shock's advice! Even if he's not on EITM, he's focusing on radio production at DC101 and he continues to expand his growing "DJ Flounder" business with appearances all over the area.

You can still hear Flounder's Mash Ups every Saturday night from 10pm to midnight on DC101.

Update:
Flounder was finally heard Tuesday morning as he entered the studio to assist with some technical problems that were plaguing the show from the start. Elliot asked him about the Chinese food they ate the day before and Flounder said he thought he had food poisoning.

It was a brief appearance, but his first in months. I'd like to think my bitching had something to do with it, but there's no telling!

Kayleigh also tweeted: "@DJFlounder to the rescue! #wefoundhim"

Where Is Flounder?

I'll preface this blog post with an email I received recently...

"I don't know if you're an insider at DC101 or not, but do you have any idea where Flounder has been? I feel like I haven't heard him in months. I listen to the show about 90 minutes a day so I could have missed him at some point. The last time I remember hearing him was during the Bert Kreischer interview in January when he brought in the expired beer. Could this screw up and his absence be related?"
Mind you, this is JUST ONE of many emails and tweets that I have received from EITM fans asking, where is Flounder?

I'll be honest, I can't remember the last time Flounder was on the show, so let's just say it was January...I'm open for correction if anyone can recall a date. Nevertheless, it's obvious, Flounder is no longer a part of the show...

What really annoys me is that no one from the show has even bothered to explain why! So on behalf of every listener...who has invested every morning listening to EITM year after year, we deserve an explanation!

So natch, I've done a little digging...

A very reliable source has told me: "That's something to do with Flounder and the new PD. Flounder works on his production and isn't on the show much now."

Could Flounder's absence be at the direction of another overly controlling and clueless Production Program Director? And most importantly, would Elliot really go along with it?

Say what you want about Elliot and Flounder's on-air relationship, but I honestly believe that Elliot would give the shirt off his back for Flounder -- a kid who Elliot discovered and molded into a regional celebrity. I just find it hard to believe that Elliot would allow someone to come in and eliminate Class members, especially Flounder, who (love him or hate him) is somewhat of a mascot of the show.

So what's really going on? Only Elliot or Flounder can answer that question...

Today when Elliot was talking about Mark Paul Gosselaar from Saved By The Bell (who will be in-studio on Friday) there was no mention of Flounder...no storming in proclaiming his love for the show...no telling Flounder to behave tomorrow and not scare Mark Paul away, which inspired me to write this post, not just for me...or you...but for Flounder.

BRING BACK FLOUNDER!
