R.I.P. Roche & Whitney's Off-Air Podcast ...

Roche and Whitney have recorded their last Off-Air Podcast...

There were definately some tears shed and lots of "inside baseball" radio-talk that we usually don't get to hear.

Roche and Whitney discussed the O.A.P. in depth and the potential for an "underground podcast" in the near future.

For now, the O.A.P. will consist of previously recorded material. Roche is asking that you email him with any of your thoughts...

UPDATE:

Whitney Leaving DC101 For Seattle!

This morning after Elliot played his usual breaking news sound bite (from Fox News) he read a press release about Whitney...

Entercom Modern Rock mainstay KNDD (107.7 The End)/Seattle announces its new morning show, hosted by Whitney "Red" Knoerlin. Red begins her new gig starting in August and will be heard weekdays from 5:30-10 a.m. She most recently hosted middays at WWDC (DC101)/Washington, D.C. under her first name.

"I am incredibly stoked and grateful for the opportunity to join such an epic team," Red said. "Is this the part where I make a joke about the rain?"

KNDD PD Mike Kaplan says, "I’m thrilled she’s on the team! Red’s clever, honest…and in for one rough winter."
The station says that "Mornings with Red" will be a "community-driven, digitally interactive experience utilizing The End’s full array of online and mobile applications." The show will also include an hour and seven minutes of Non-Stop End-to-End Music each weekday morning.
Whitney broke the news on-air Monday...she cried...

Here is what she said on her soon-to-be-deleted DC101 page:
So you know...at least I think you do. I'm leaving DC101. Sorry for blubbering onair but it wasn't the easiest decision to make...DC101 has been my home for the majority of the last decade. I've made some great friends and I have some great stories which will be hard to beat, but its time to take a chance...I'm headed out west but I am here until July 10th. As I said onair, thanks to everyone at DC101...Elliot, Hennessy and Roche especially. I learned so much from them....most of it is FILTHY knowledge but knowledge none the less. And most importantly, thank YOU for listening.
Her last day at DC101 is July 10th. She will be moving to Seattle on July 19th. Goodbye Whitney, you will be missed!

According to Urban Dictionary, DSB is defined as Deadly Semen Buildup, which is caused by a lack of sex or release of said bodily fluid resulting in temporary discomfort down below. You're welcome!

TV Pitchmen Billy Mays Found Dead!

This post powered by the air Billy Mays no longer breathes...

Sadly, Billy Mays, the burly, bearded television pitchman whose boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean which made him a pop-culture icon, died today. He was 50.

Tampa police said Mays was found unresponsive by his wife this morning. A fire rescue crew pronounced him dead at 7:45am. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done on Monday.

Mays reportedly was hit on the head Saturday while aboard a US Airways flight that made a rough landing, and Mays' wife told investigators the TV personality didn't feel well before he went to bed Saturday night. I smell a mega lawsuit!

You'll recall Elliot recently spoke with Billy Mays and Anthony Sullivan about their show Pitchmen on the Discovery Channel.

Elliot and Tyler also shared their memory of Michael at the "United We Stand" benefit concert at RFK Stadium in 2001...

EITMonline.com is currently dedicated to the memory of Michael Jackson. Here is what The Class had to say about Friday's show:

The majority of today’s show was dedicated to the life and times of Michael Jackson. We looked at his legacy in terms of every context imaginable – some good, some bad, and most bizarre, but at the end of the day, even though we were dealing with the biggest pop star in history and arguably, the most famous person in the world, we had to be ourselves. Accordingly, it is with great sadness, but also comfort and familiarity that I remind you: “Whenever somebody famous dies, even if it is the ‘King of Pop,’ we like to play a game called, ‘He Died, You Win’"...

And yes, Elliot finally played the game. Sorry Ed and Farrah! Here are the questions and answers:
1.) Michael Jackson had thirteen #1 songs in the United States...which one was his very first? ANSWER: "Ben"

2.) This Guns N' Roses guitarist played on Jackson's "Black or White.: ANSWER: Slash

4.) Michael Jackson was married twice. Who was his first wife? ANSWER: Lisa Marie Presley

5.) Michael Jackson's hair caught on fire while filming a TV commercial for what? ANSWER: Pepsi

6.) Michael Jackson was one of the stars of 'The Wiz.' Who did he play? ANSWER: Scarecrow

7.) Michael Jackson co-wrote "We Are The World" to help raise money for famine relief and to help the poor in Africa. Who did he write the song with? ANSWER: Lionel Richie

8.) What was the name of Jackson's monkey?
ANSWER: Bubbles

9.) Jackson was the half-time star of SuperBowl XXVII, Garth Brooks sang The National Anthem, and the Buffalo Bills lost 52-17. Who won? ANSWER: Dallas

10.) Michael Jackson's last concert in Washington, DC took place on October 21, 2001 at RFK Stadium. "United We Stand" was hosted around the country on the radio by Cubby Bryant, Sean Valentine, and which DC101 disc jockey? ANSWER: Elliot
Friday was truly a great show! R.I.P. Michael Jackson...
